The 6th annual Hellyer Women’s Track – Race and Training Series (promoted by San Jose Bicycle Club) is designed to introduce women to racing on the track in a fun, non-intimidating environment. The sessions are conducted by experienced women track racers who know their stuff!
If you are a climber, and find yourself getting dropped or in difficulty on flatter sections of a race or a ride, learning to ride the track will help you get a feel for riding at a high tempo. If you ride with a group, track cycling will also help you develop skills of riding in a pack, and it will also teach you good drafting and sprinting skills.
The 2014 Series sessions are broken into 4 skill-specific training modules so you can learn different things in each session and get a “taste” of all the track has to offer women!
Requirement(s): Attendees must attend a minimum of 1 beginner/novice session this calendar year. Please check with event promoter if you are in doubt!
Fees: The sessions are $49.00 per person/ per session (incl. NCVA fee and rental).
$175 if you register for all four (a $21 discount).
Part of the proceeds go to the SJBC women’s development fund and sponsorship of the women’s racing prize purses at the velodrome challenge.

Getting to the Hellyer Park Velodrome is easy. The track is located just off of Highway 101 at the Hellyer Ave. exit. At the stop sign go straight into Hellyer Park and follow the signs to the velodrome.
